Chase ATM Deposit

Last updated: July 9, 2026

Chase has the latest ATM deposit cutoff of any major U.S. bank: deposits made before 11 p.m. Eastern Time (8 p.m. Pacific) count for that business day, whether it is cash, checks, or a transfer from another Chase account. You can deposit cash and up to 30 checks at almost any Chase ATM, 24/7, and Chase says funds are generally available the next business day. Federal rules require at least $275 of a check deposit to be available by then even when a hold applies.

This guide covers the Chase ATM cutoff time, when your cash and check deposits become available, how holds work, and how ATM deposits compare with branch deposits.

How ATM deposits work at Chase

Chase ATMs accept deposits around the clock: “You can make check and cash deposits at almost any Chase ATM, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” including up to 30 checks in a single transaction. Insert cash or checks directly, no envelopes or deposit slips at deposit-scanning machines. The 11 p.m. ET cutoff is unusually late, most big banks cut off ATM deposits between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., which gives Chase customers an extra window for same-business-day credit.

When your deposit becomes available

Chase’s published availability rule is simple: for most accounts, funds are available the next business day after the business day of deposit. Chase does not publish a blanket same-day availability promise for cash deposited at ATMs, unlike some competitors, so plan on next business day as the baseline for both cash and checks deposited at the machine.

Federal Regulation CC sets the floor for checks: at least $275 of a day’s check deposits must be available at the start of the next business day. Regulators also allow banks to hold funds longer in defined cases, including large deposits ($6,725+), new accounts, repeated overdrafts, and reasonable doubt about a check, and holds can run up to six business days for deposits at an ATM the bank does not own.

Deposit holds at Chase

  • Why: the bank needs to validate the check and collect the funds from the paying bank.
  • How you find out: the ATM screen or receipt at deposit time, or an alert afterward in the app or by mail.
  • Timing note: a deposit made after 11 p.m. ET, or on a weekend or holiday, is treated as made the next business day, which pushes availability back a day too.

Mobile deposit does not accept cash, and other banks’ ATMs do not take deposits to Chase accounts, so for cash your options are a Chase ATM or a teller at a Chase branch near you. Chase runs about 15,000 ATMs and more than 4,800 branches.

How to get your money available faster

  • Deposit before 11 p.m. ET on a business day: a Friday 11:30 p.m. deposit is treated as Monday’s, pushing availability to Tuesday.
  • Go electronic for recurring money: direct deposit, ACH, wires, and Zelle are typically available the same day and never subject to check holds.
  • Keep your receipt until the deposit fully clears.

Frequently asked questions

What time is the Chase ATM deposit cutoff?

11 p.m. Eastern Time (8 p.m. Pacific). Cash, check, and Chase-to-Chase transfer deposits made at a Chase ATM before then count for that business day. That is the latest ATM cutoff of any major U.S. bank.

When will my Chase ATM deposit be available?

Chase says that for most accounts, funds are available the next business day after the business day of deposit. Federal rules require at least $275 of a check deposit to be available by then, even if the rest is held.

How many checks can I deposit at a Chase ATM?

Up to 30 checks in a single transaction, plus cash, with no envelope or deposit slip, at almost any Chase ATM, 24/7.

Are cash deposits at Chase ATMs available immediately?

Chase does not publish an immediate-availability promise for ATM cash deposits. Its general rule is next-business-day availability for most accounts. If you need cash credited faster, deposit with a teller during branch hours.

What happens if I deposit at a Chase ATM on a weekend or holiday?

Business days exclude Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, so the deposit is treated as made the next business day. A Saturday deposit counts as Monday’s deposit.

Can I deposit cash at a non-Chase ATM?

No. Deposits to a Chase account can only be made at Chase’s own ATMs, at a branch teller, or, for checks only, through Chase QuickDeposit in the app.

Why is my Chase deposit on hold?

Banks hold deposits to validate checks and collect funds from the paying bank. Federal rules allow longer holds for large deposits ($6,725+), new accounts, repeated overdrafts, or doubt about a check, up to six business days in some ATM cases.

Do I need an envelope to deposit at a Chase ATM?

No envelope or deposit slip is needed at Chase’s deposit-scanning ATMs. Insert cash or checks directly and the machine counts and images them.
