Cash deposits: available immediately

Cash fed into a Truist ATM is available immediately, you can withdraw it or spend it on your debit card right away. The 9 p.m. ET cutoff matters mainly for checks and for which business day the deposit is recorded on.

Check deposits and nightly processing

Truist posts ATM check deposits through nightly processing: deposit by 9 p.m. ET on a weekday and the check posts that night, with funds available the next day unless a hold is placed. Truist does not publish a first-dollar next-day amount the way some banks do (Wells Fargo and Citi publish $275, PNC publishes $100), so treat full next-day availability as the standard case and holds as the exception.

Immediate Access: same-day checks for a fee

Truist’s Immediate Access service, available for ATM and mobile check deposits only, makes an approved check available the same day:

  • Checks of $100 or more: 2% of the check amount (a $1,000 check costs $20)
  • Checks under $100: $1 flat
  • Single checks under $5: not eligible
  • Deposits made by 11:59 p.m. ET with Immediate Access are included in that night’s processing

Worth it when a payment is due tonight; otherwise standard next-day availability is free.

How to get your money available faster

  • Deposit checks before 9 p.m. ET on a weekday so they make that night’s processing.
  • Cash beats checks: cash is available immediately.
  • Use Immediate Access selectively: 2% is steep on large checks, fine on small urgent ones.
  • Go electronic for recurring money: direct deposit, ACH, wires, and Zelle skip check processing entirely.
